// Learn how to start a blog on Bluehost in 5 minutes

I started my first blog 8 years ago and ever since then I’ve made enough money blogging that I’ve never had to get a 9-5 job. My first blog was on Blogger and it was barebones, basic, but it was a blog. If I were starting all over, I would have invested the small amount into getting my own domain name, and started with a web hosting provider like Bluehost. In future videos I will highlight my blog tips to help you earn $500/day on your blog.

I learned my lesson and three years later used Bluehost to host my first blog business.

In this vlog, I’m going to walk you through how to start your own blog, how you can actually make money blogging and how to design your blog. In future series I will go into deeper detail on how to market your blog and how to monetize your blog once it’s launched.

I originally started out as a regular boring coupon blogger. 5 years ago I launched LifeTailored.com and became a fashion blogger and travel blogger. I now routinely get to stay at hotels for free, get tons of free clothes and get paid to blog about style and traveling the world. It truly is a dream come true and it all started 8 years ago when I launched my first blog.

I want to help you achieve your goals (whatever they may be), so once you watch this video, leave a comment with your questions, ideas, etc. I wish somebody was there to help me when I was starting out, so I’m paying it forward and lending my blogging expertise to you.

// How I Make Money Blogging

– Affiliate Marketing

This is basically getting paid based on results only or commission-only. Say you use my link and sign up for Bluehost. If you buy a hosting plan, I make money. If you just click on the link or just look at the ad, I don’t get paid. Affiliate marketing is only getting paid if you can deliver a specific action for an advertiser: a purchase, an email list sign up, etc.

– Sponsored Posts

Advertisers are always looking for influential bloggers to promote their products. I get contacted by major brands looking to spread the word about their new deodorant or shoe line, etc. and they pay me $500, $1000, $2000+ to write a blog post about their brand. These types of posts aren’t as frequent as affiliate marketing and require relationships, but once you have them it’s a tremendously profitable way of making money with your blog.

– Adsense

This was my first advertiser. Adsense is a service offered by Google that lets them put ads on any website. With Adsense, you only get paid if someone clicks or looks at your ad (with the payouts for clicks being much much higher). Unlike affiliate marketing, any clicks you generate get you paid, regardless of whether or not a result is reached, and unlike sponsored posts, Adsense ads are always on your site and always available. For making money on your blog, getting Adsense setup should be your first priority.

++Blogging Income Report

On Life, Tailored, I monetize my blog with Skimlinks where I make a commission from any visitors who purchase something from my site. My earnings per month are in the $100 range for Skimlinks.

For sponsored posts, I have maybe 1-2 per month each at $1000, which makes my earnings there around $2000.

I run Outbrain’s display ads on my site and earn $20/month from these. I removed Adsense from the site about a year ago because it was slowing down the page and I make much more from sponsored posts, so that’s where I shifted my focus.

++Bluehost Review

So Bluehost is dirt cheap, how good can it be? To be transparent, Bluehost is perfectly fine up to around 50,000 uniques. If you are getting more than 50,000 uniques, you want to either self-host your blog on VPS.net or go to something like WPEngine.

Most blogs out there don’t have a ton of images and don’t get 50k uniques, so in those cases Bluehost is more than adequate.
